ST PIUS X SOFTBALL 2013

St Pius X offers baseball for all boys entering 5^th – 8^th grade and softball for all girls entering 5^th -8^th grade; we encourage all those interested to sign up. Junior Varsity (5^th and 6^th) and Varsity (7^th and 8^th) teams participate in the Dallas Parochial League with other parochial schools.

Practices: Begin in March practices are held at local fields at the coach’s discretion. Regular season practices are typically held two days a week for 1 ½ each practice (TBA).

Uniforms: SPX provides jerseys, cap or visor, bats, batting helmets, catcher’s equipment, bases, softballs or baseballs;

**Player must provide or purchase: game pants or shorts, glove, and cleats.

Games: Regular season games are typically held on Sundays and some week nights from the end of March to the end of May; Playoffs begin late may or early June. All games are held at area high school fields or those DPL schools that have fields. (Some week nights games are possible).

Sports Physicals: All athletes must have a physical on file with the athletic director to participate; if your son or daughter have already turned in a physical form with a previous sport then no additional form is needed.

Coaches: We need volunteer coaches for these sports (both JV and Varsity levels); if you’re interested please contact Ginger Farrell, gfarrell@spxdallas.org

**** NOTE: if we have athletes who are interested in playing either of these sports and for some reason don’t get enough participation from St Pius athletes to form complete teams we will make every effort to place them on a joint team with another area school (i.e. St Bernard, St Patrick etc.).

Important Dates:

Team practices may begin anytime after basketball season has ended – early March

Baseball and Softball Season begins: at the end of March


Baseball or Softball Fee: $85 (must be turned in with form by February 15).
