All clergy and staff as well as volunteers must be screened as part of the Safe Environment program at St. Pius X. Getting started is a 6-step process....don't worry, all six steps can be completed online and in one on-site training session.
1. Complete the On-LineScreening form(includes permission/release for background check). Computer access is available in the church office upon request for completing the online screening form.
2. Complete the Three (3) Reference forms (completed on the online screening form). Provide a personal reference who has known you for three years—cannot be a family member/relative.
3. Complete a written Interview (completed at initial training). This form will be reviewed by the head of a ministry/Director of Safe Environment/parish designate.
4. Complete the Acknowledgment form (completed on the online screening form). This affirms that you have read the Safe Environment Policy and agree to abide by those instructions and guidelines. Again, click on Forms, Policies, Manualsto access and read the Safe Environment Program and Policy on Sexual Misconduct. These do not need to be printed, this is your reference guide for the program.
5. Complete the Social Media Policy form (completed on the online screening form). This affirms that you have read the Safe Environment Policy and agree to abide by those instructions and guidelines. Again, click on Forms, Policies, Manualsto access and read the Safe Environment Program and Policy Social Media. These do not need to be printed, this is your reference guide for the program.
6. Submit a Background check. This check will be conducted and documented by the Diocesan-approved vendor which is currently Accutrak. The information you provided on the screening form already provides the necessary data for Accutrak to perform the check.
7. Have your picture taken for the badge. This is done at the initial training or by appointment.
The on-site training sessions you must attend are typically scheduled on campus once every 4-6 weeks. Click here to access the diocesan database and view the 'register for classes' tab for all training sessions that are currently scheduled. Additional sessions are normally scheduled in August to accommodate new parents and to prepare for school opening.
These steps are required if you are new to the Safe Environment program and have not been trained.
NOTICE: If you have been screened and cleared at another parish in the Diocese of Dallas, please add St. Pius X Church or School to the list of locations in your database record. This allows the safety officer to access your database record as a volunteer in our parish.
