June 9, 2013, 12:00 AM - June 13, 2013, 12:00 AM
Registration for Mission Possible 2013 is now closed. We are in need of more ADULT VOLUNTEERS that can help us get to and from service sites each day. Volunteering is FREE and we offer a FREE "mini" camp for children that are too young to participate. If you can help please contact the St. Pius X Youth Office at firstname.lastname@example.org or (972) 682-3585.
6th-12th graders & graduating Seniors ’13 are invited to join “Mission Possible Service Week“ 2013, with participants from all around the Dallas Diocese…to share your DIFFERENT GIFTS!!! “Mission Possible” is an “Inter-parish,” Diocesan supported, in-town service week. 2013 marks the 19th year for this event!!! Each summer our St. Pius X and St. Martin Parish Communities have been blessed to collaborate on this event, as the “East” region and have over 50 participants who are willing to brave the heat…get off the couch…and SERVE!!!
On June 9, 2013 our week will begin with a kick off at St. Martin of Tours in Forney …we get to celebrate Mass together then gather to get to know each other, have dinner and have FUN!!!
Families are encouraged to join us at the church for Mass and a blessing!!! Mass will begin at 5:00 p.m. After Mass we will have a cook-out and play some games.
On June 10-13, participants will gather in St. Pius X Communion Hall at 8:15 a.m. They will gather in work crews, based upon prescribed Adult to Youth ratios and transportation, and participate in crew team building activities and large group activities, fun and prayer. Crews will travel to different service sites each day, in an effort to expose participants to a variety of service opportunities. Each participant brings their own lunch and the crews take time at their service site to eat, process their day and pray together. Time will be spent each day directed toward “service learning” activities based on our Catholic Social Teachings.
The cost for Youth participants is $50.00 (check made to St. Pius X), which covers snacks, T-shirts, supplies for the week and our wrap up activity Hawaiian Falls in Garland. Additional Donations are graciously accepted and will be used for scholarships and supplies! As our SOLIDARITY PROJECT we will collect back packs and school supplies for Blue Caboose Children’s Fund. Bring donations with you no later than Wednesday, June 12th during the week of Mission Possible…so we can take them to those agencies on Thursday morning !!!
