St Pius X offers basketball for all boys/girls entering 5^th – 8^th grade; we encourage all those interested to sign up October 1st of each year. Junior Varsity (5^th and 6^th) and Varsity (7^th and 8^th) teams participate in the Dallas Parochial League with other area parochial schools.

Team Evaluations: If an age group has more than 15 athletes interested in playing we conduct evaluations to place athletes according to the DPL Skill and Assessment Criteria and form two teams. Sports form and fee must be received by Oct 15th of each year.

Practices: Mid-Nov to early March practices are held here at the SPX gym -TBA.

Preseason Tournaments: Some teams elect to participate in preseason basketball tournaments offered by other DPL schools; typically played the first two weekends in December. Tiger Athletics covers the cost of each team to participate in ONE pre-season tournament.

Uniforms: SPX provides jerseys and shorts; Player must provide or purchase: basketball court shoes, kneepads, etc.

Games: Regular season games are held on Saturdays and Sundays typically the first weekend in January through the last weekend in February; Playoffs begin in early March. All games are held at area DPL school gyms; playoffs at area high school gyms.

Sports Physicals: All athletes must receive an annual physical to participate in DPL sports; a physical form is on our website for your convenience.

Coaches: We need volunteer coaches for ALL grade levels (boys and girls teams); if you’re interested pls. contact Ginger Farrell, gfarrell@spxdallas.org.

ALL VOLUNTEER COACHES: Must be Safe Environment cleared and current with their annual required training. The Dallas Parochial League also requires all volunteer coaches to attend ONE DPL workshop (Play Like A Champion); the workshops are approximately two hours in length and held at area DPL schools throughout the school year. The fee is paid by St Pius X for all coaching volunteers.
