The Finance Council approves the parish and school budgets yearly and reviews performance monthly to insure compliance. This helps to insure that all money raised and spent is accurately accounted for and that the Parish is in compliance with accounting standards and controls established by the Diocese and Parish.
Additional Finance Council responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the parish grounds and facilities.
- Overseeing investment performance.
- Reviewing and approving all capital improvements.
- Approving all fundraising activities.
- Assisting other Councils and with events such as Oktoberfest.
Voting members of the Finance Council must be active Catholics and parishioners who are knowledgeable about financial management, accounting, general management or administration, banking, investment counseling, insurance or public relations, etc. and who are committed to the work of the Church.
What is required?
The term of office is for three years, and the Council meets each month except December on the 4
Wednesday of the month.
The application deadline is April 30th. Interviews will be conducted by the current Finance Council In May. Candidates will be notified of the Pastor’s selections on May 28
. The first meeting of the new Council is June 24
