Boy Scout Groups

Tiger Cubs BSA Tiger Cubs

A school-year program for first-grade (or 7-year-old) boys and their adult partners that stresses simplicity, shared leadership, learning about the community, and family understanding. Each boy/adult team meets for family activities, then once or twice a month all the teams meet for Tiger Cub group activities.
Cub Scouting Cub Scouting

A family- and home-centered program for boys in the second through fifth grade (or 8, 9, and 10 years old). Cub Scouting's emphasis is on quality program at the local level, where the most boys and families are involved. Fourth- and fifth-grade (or 10-year-old) boys are called Webelos (WE'll BE LOyal Scouts) and participate in more advanced activities that begin to prepare them to become Boy Scouts.  Cub Scout Pack 746 is active at St. Pius.
Boy Scouting Boy Scouting

A program for boys 11 through 17 designed to achieve the aims of Scouting through a vigorous outdoor program and peer group leadership with the counsel of an adult Scoutmaster. (Boys also may become Boy Scouts if they have earned the Arrow of Light Award or have completed the fifth grade.)  St. Pius sponsors  Boy Scout Troop 746, and Boy Scout Troop 865.
Varsity Scouting Varsity Scouting

Venturing Venturing

Venturing is a new program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) through 20 years of age.

National Eagle Scout Association NESA

The National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) is a fellowship of men who have achieved the Eagle Scout rank and who desire using their efforts and influence toward forming the kind of young men America needs for leadership.

Girl Scout Groups

The Girl Scouts of America (GSA) offers a number of opportunities for girls and young ladies depending on their age and area of interest.  The following is a description of the programs offered through GSA and these descriptions are followed by the active Troops at St. Pius X.  Please contact either Jan Davis or the appropriate Troop leader for more information.

Daisy Girl Scouts . . .
are 5 to 6-year-olds who may be in Kindergarten or First grade. There are suggested activities in each of the worlds of interest for Daisy Girl Scouts to work with, and they receive certificates at the beginning and at the end of their program. Daisy Girl Scouts do not sell cookies.

Brownie Girl Scouts . . .
are 6 to 8-year-olds who may be in grades 1 - 3. They test out different activities in their Brownie Girl Scout Handbook and may earn "Try-Its" in each of the worlds of interest. When Brownie Girl Scouts fly up to the Junior Girl Scout program they earn their Brownie Wings.

Junior Girl Scouts . . .
are 8 to 11-year-olds who may be in grades 3 - 6. As a Junior Girl Scout, a girl becomes eligible to earn proficiency badges, either on her own or with a group. Other recognitions include the Junior Aide Patch and Bridge to Cadette Girl Scouts patch.

Cadette Girl Scouts . . .
are 11 to 14-year-olds who may be in grades 6 - 9. Still working in the five worlds, a Cadette Girl Scout earns tan badges and interest project patches, designed with additional challenges. More emphasis is placed on service to others and Cadettes may earn the Girl Scout Silver Award.

Senior Girl Scouts . . .
are 14 to 17-year-olds who are in grades 9 - 12. Girls may continue to earn interest project patches, train to earn volunteer service bars, and participate in service activities. Girls may also work toward the highest achievement in Girl Scouting -- the Girl Scout Gold Award, which is recognized nationally with many college scholarships.
