Our Beginnings The planning and work that goes into a year long celebration is quite extraordinary. Fortunately we have a wonderful Anniversary team headed by Jill Castloo and they orchestrated a wonderful event. Everything started with the 5 p.m. Saturday, February 21st Jubilee Mass concelebrated by Bishop Galante, assisted by Msgr. Pichard, Msgr. Weinzapfel, Msgr. King, and other priests previously serving at St. Pius X. The liturgy included the reading of the proclamation announcing the establishment of the parish effective February 26, 1956. Members of the original choir (over 20 in number) sang some Latin motets and lead the congregation in other traditional hymns. Immediately following the Jubilee Mass, over 375 past and present parishioners enjoyed a dinner served in the Parish Gym. Kathy Milano, our amazing cafeteria manager and chef extraordinaire, fashioned quite the meal for all to enjoy. The program during the dinner included several talks from our guests of honor as well as a narrated power point presentation outlining the history of the parish and its parishioners. Pictures, did someone say pictures? On Sunday, February 22nd after all Masses, the Ladies Society hosted receptions in the Parish Hall for ALL parishioners with refreshments. The narrated power point presentation shown on Saturday night was repeated during each reception. In addition, historical artifacts and photos were on display. |

Contribution of our Spiritual Leaders August 21-22, 2004 This is the weekend that we honored our Spiritual Leaders, past and present. The weekend’s Masses were concelebrated by our current and past priests. In addition, our deacons and sisters and other groups that have been instrumental in fostering our faith will also be honored.
We are pleased that the Knights of Columbus Color Guard attended Saturday's Mass as well as the SPX 50th Anniversary choir. The Knights and Ladies of the Holy Sepulchre were the guests at Sunday's 10:00 a.m. Mass as we celebrate our patron's feast. Receptions in the Parish Hall took place after
each Mass to provide an opportunity for visiting and viewing the photo
displays of the various groups being honored. |
